RH 2008 200 Ton Double-Acting Center Hole Cylinder with 8 in Stroke

The Power Team RH2008 is a 200-ton rated, double-acting center-hole cylinder with an 8-inch stroke, engineered for heavy push and pull operations requiring a through-rod or cable path. Its retracted length is 16.06 inches, extending to 24.06 inches. The cylinder’s effective push area is 40.45 in, producing approximately 202.3 tons at 10,000 psi, while on the retraction (pull) side its effective area is 15.95 in, equivalent to about 79.8 tons. It includes a through-hole of 4.06 inches diameter to allow for cable, rod, or anchor bolt passage.

Constructed for demanding field and industrial environments, the RH2008 features a chrome-plated piston rod, advanced sealing, and corrosion-resistant standpipe treated with the Power-Tech process. It supports interchangeable piston head inserts to accommodate either tapped or plain through-rod configurations. A built-in safety relief prevents overpressure in the retract port if flow is obstructed. Standard 9796 3/8 in NPTF female half couplers are used for both ports, and steel models in this class include removable carrying handles for transport and placement.

Advantages

  1. Bidirectional force capability & higher productivity: Because the RH2008 is double-acting, it provides hydraulic force both on piston extension (push) and retraction (pull). This allows the operator to operate it without relying on springs or external means. The push side offers an effective area of approximately 40.45 in² and the pull side about 15.95 in.
  2. This bidirectional capability makes it highly suited to applications such as tensioning cables, anchor bolts, or structural jacking where both pushing and pulling actions may be needed.
  3. Center-hole design & robust construction: The RH2008 incorporates a substantial 06 in center hole, allowing rods, cables or other components to pass directly through the cylinder body, providing high flexibility in installation and integration with jigs or tensioning systems.

Additionally, the cylinder’s standpipe is treated with the company’s “Power-Tech” corrosion/abrasion resistance finish, the piston rod is chrome-plated for wear resistance, and an internal safety feature guards the retract circuit against over-pressurization. These design features improve durability, reduce wear in demanding environments, and provide added safety in heavy-duty hydraulic use.

Recommended Accessories & Couplers

You’ll need high-quality hydraulic couplers, fittings, and adapters compatible with 10,000 psi / 700 bar service to match RH2008’s ports (which use 3/8 in NPTF half couplers). Some good examples:

  • Power Team 9796 hydraulic coupler — OEM Power Team half coupler, ideal direct mate for the RH2008’s ports.
  • FT103 3/8 in NPTF coupling — a robust standard 10,000 psi coupling that can interconnect with hoses and adapters.
  • SPX 3/8″ NPTF male hose half coupler — useful when adapting the cylinder to a hose line, especially in installations where you need a male interface end.

Accessories

  • Cylinder base plates / mounting adapters (for bolting or fixture mounting)
  • Piston head inserts (plain or tapped) to change how the through-hole is used
  • Gauge tees / pressure gauge adapters to monitor line pressure
  • Safety block / stop collars for load retention
  • High pressure hoses rated for 10,000 psi with matching swivel or rigid ends
  • Protective dust caps / covers to keep debris out of coupler ports
  • Seal kits (e.g. Viton or standard) to match different hydraulic fluids

Practical Application Tips

Match coupler ratings to cylinder specs
Always use couplers and hoses rated at or above the cylinder’s working pressure (10,000 psi Mismatch or underspec’d fittings are a common failure point in heavy hydraulics.

  1. Rig the piston-head insert suitably
The RH2008 supports interchangeable piston inserts—plain holes or threaded—so you can choose what fits your tensioning rod or cable. Confirm your rod specs before ordering the insert.
  2. Use base / mounting adapters to stabilize alignment
Under heavy loads, any misalignment can produce side loading and uneven wear. Employ solid base plates or mounting collars to lock the cylinder in axial orientation.
  3. Include instrumentation & safety devices
A gauge tee lets you place a pressure gauge between the pump and cylinder to monitor real-time loads. Also consider a load-holding or safety block to guard against accidental retraction or pressure drop.
  4. Seal kit selection & maintenance
If using specialty hydraulic fluids (e.g. fire-resistant or phosphate-ester fluids), order compatible seals (Viton, etc.) from Power Team’s seal kit list. These are often required when non-standard oils are used.
  5. Plan hose layout & minimize bending stress
Keep hose runs smooth and free of sharp bends or twists. Use proper bend radii and supports to prevent hose fatigue under cyclic loading.
